The Sharjah to Ras Al Khaimah bus is one of the northern emirates’ most useful intercity links: a single AED 27 ride of about 1 hour 30 minutes between Al Jubail Bus Station in Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah’s main bus station. One detail most guides get wrong is that this is really two services sharing a corridor — SRTA Route 115 runs Sharjah → Ras Al Khaimah, while the return trip, Ras Al Khaimah → Sharjah, is operated by RAKTA. Timings and payment differ slightly by direction, so this guide covers both ways separately, including the official RAKTA timetable for the return leg, how to pay (Sayer vs E-SAQR cards), and the truth about getting to Ras Al Khaimah Airport.

Sharjah to Ras Al Khaimah bus timings
Sharjah → Ras Al Khaimah (SRTA Route 115)
Buses leave Al Jubail Bus Station for Ras Al Khaimah through the day. Here we have to be straight with you: SRTA does not publish a fetchable online timetable for Route 115, and the guides that do list times disagree — the earliest first bus quoted is around 05:00–06:00 and the last bus 22:00–23:00, with departures every 30–60 minutes. The pattern in between is consistent (roughly hourly or better in peak times), but if you need the first or last bus of the day, confirm at the Al Jubail information counter before you rely on it. En route, the bus stops in Ajman before continuing north to the RAK main station in Al Dhait — useful if you are boarding from Ajman instead (see our Dubai to Ajman bus guide for connections).

Ras Al Khaimah → Sharjah (RAKTA, official timetable)
The return direction is fully published by RAKTA, and it is a clean hourly pattern:
- 07:30 — first bus, labelled the “Sharjah Direct”
- 08:00, 09:00, 10:00 … 21:00 — hourly departures, 15 trips a day in total
- Fare: AED 27, every day of the week
Coming from Dubai instead? Direct RTA/RAKTA buses link Dubai’s Union Square with Ras Al Khaimah — see our Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah bus guide. Reaching Al Jubail from Dubai is covered in the Dubai to Sharjah bus guide.
Don’t take Route 116 by mistake
Some Sharjah guides list two routes to Ras Al Khaimah — 115 and 116. That is wrong. Route 116 heads toward Masafi and Fujairah, not to Ras Al Khaimah city. Always board Route 115 at Al Jubail and check the destination board before the bus leaves; if the display says Masafi or Fujairah, you are on the wrong bus.
Fare and payment: Sayer, E-SAQR and cash
The fare is AED 27 in both directions (one summary table online says “AED 27–30” — the AED 27 figure is what both operators’ information supports). Payment is where travellers get confused, because three similarly named systems meet on this corridor:
- Sharjah side: buy at the Al Jubail counter with cash or a Sayer card (SRTA’s smart card; accepted on selected buses).
- Ras Al Khaimah side: RAKTA uses the E-SAQR card (a blue card costing AED 30 including AED 20 credit, sold on buses and at the main station) and the Sayr app for intercity booking.
- Nol cards are NOT accepted on these buses — your Dubai card will not work here.
Note the trap: Sharjah’s Sayer card and RAK’s Sayr app are different products from different authorities despite the near-identical names. Cash works in both directions, so it is the simplest option for a one-off trip.
Is there a bus to Ras Al Khaimah Airport?
No direct one. Journey-planner sites sometimes claim a direct Sharjah → RAK Airport bus — that is a data error; no such service appears on RAKTA’s or the RAK tourism authority’s intercity lists. The correct way is two buses:
- Route 115 to the RAK main bus station (Al Dhait), then the local Orange Line to Al Nakheel, or a short taxi hop.
- From Al Nakheel, RAKTA’s Green Line runs to Ras Al Khaimah Airport: AED 8, hourly, roughly 06:00–21:00 from Al Nakheel (07:00–22:00 from the airport), about 45 minutes.
Allow a comfortable buffer before a flight — with a change of bus, this is a 2½-hour-plus journey from Al Jubail, not the 1½ hours to RAK city.
Step by step: Sharjah to Ras Al Khaimah by bus
- Go to Al Jubail Bus Station in Sharjah and find the Route 115 departure bay.
- Buy your AED 27 ticket at the counter (cash or Sayer card) — or board with an E-SAQR/Sayr booking on the return.
- Confirm the destination board reads Ras Al Khaimah (not Masafi/Fujairah — that’s the 116).
- Ride via Ajman to the RAK main bus station in Al Dhait, about 1½ hours.
- For the airport or beach resorts, connect to RAKTA city buses or taxis outside the station.

FAQs
What is the Sharjah to Ras Al Khaimah bus fare?
AED 27 one-way in both directions. Pay cash or Sayer card at Al Jubail, or E-SAQR card / Sayr app on the RAK side. Nol cards are not accepted.
How long does the Sharjah to Ras Al Khaimah bus take?
About 1 hour 30 minutes (some guides quote up to 2 hours in heavy traffic) between Al Jubail Bus Station and Ras Al Khaimah’s main station in Al Dhait.
What time is the first and last bus from Ras Al Khaimah to Sharjah?
On RAKTA’s official timetable, the first bus is the 07:30 direct, followed by hourly buses from 08:00 to 21:00. The fare is AED 27 and the pattern runs every day.
What are the Sharjah to Ras Al Khaimah bus timings from Al Jubail?
SRTA doesn’t publish this direction’s timetable online, and guides conflict (first bus around 05:00–06:00, last around 22:00–23:00, every 30–60 minutes). The service runs frequently all day, but confirm early/late departures at the Al Jubail counter.
Does the Sharjah to Ras Al Khaimah bus stop in Ajman?
Yes — Route 115 stops in Ajman on the way north, which also makes it a handy Ajman–RAK link. A stop in Umm Al Quwain is claimed by one older guide but is not confirmed; don’t rely on it.

No. Take the intercity bus to RAK main station, then the Orange Line to Al Nakheel and the Green Line (AED 8, hourly) to the airport — or a taxi for the last leg.
Which route goes from Sharjah to Ras Al Khaimah — 115 or 116?
Route 115. Route 116 runs toward Masafi and Fujairah, despite some blogs listing it as a second RAK route.
