The Ajman to Ras Al Khaimah bus is a direct intercity service listed on RAKTA’s official timetable — even though at least one popular bus-timetable website insists no direct bus exists and tries to send you on a two-bus detour. Ignore it. Buses run from Al Musalla Bus Station in Ajman to Al Hamra Bus Station in Ras Al Khaimah every two hours for AED 25, taking about 1 hour 20 minutes with a stop in Umm Al Quwain on the way. This guide gives both directions’ timings (the return is cheaper — AED 20 — and runs more often), settles the confusing Masaar card question, and explains the one thing you genuinely need to double-check: the time of the last bus.

Ajman to Ras Al Khaimah bus timings
Ajman → Ras Al Khaimah
RAKTA’s official trip list shows 8 departures a day, every two hours from Al Musalla:
07:30 · 09:30 · 11:30 · 13:30 · 15:30 · 17:30 · 19:30 · 21:30
The one thing to be careful about is the last bus. RAKTA’s page header for this route says services run “07:30 to 19:30” even though its own trip list includes the 21:30, the RAK tourism authority repeats the 19:30 finish, and one Ajman guide lists a 23:30 departure instead of the 21:30. In other words, the evening service is exactly where the sources disagree — if you need a bus after 19:30, confirm it in RAKTA’s Sayr app or at the Al Musalla counter before you plan around it. The daytime pattern (every two hours from 07:30) is consistent everywhere.
Ras Al Khaimah → Ajman
The return direction is more frequent and fully published: 10 trips a day from 05:30 to 21:00 — 05:30, then every two hours 07:30–19:30, with extra departures at 20:00 and 21:00 — for a fare of AED 20. Yes, the return really is AED 5 cheaper; the two directions are priced separately, just like the Abu Dhabi–RAK service in our Abu Dhabi to Ras Al Khaimah bus guide.
Fare and the Masaar card confusion
The official RAKTA fare from Ajman to Ras Al Khaimah is a flat AED 25. Around that simple fact, the internet has built a small mess:
- Some Ajman fare tables list “AED 20 with Masaar card / AED 25 without” for this route.
- Other Ajman-specific sources say the opposite — cash AED 25, Masaar card not accepted on this service, and Ajman’s own transport guides describe the RAK ticket as cash-only.
The likely explanation: the return fare from Ras Al Khaimah genuinely is AED 20, and that figure has leaked into the Ajman→RAK card column of copied fare tables. Our advice is simple: carry AED 25 in cash for the Ajman → RAK leg. If your Masaar card is accepted, treat it as a bonus — don’t depend on it. Coming back from RAK, the E-SAQR card and Sayr app are Ras Al Khaimah’s own systems.
The route: Al Musalla → Umm Al Quwain → Al Hamra
From Al Musalla Bus Station (on Sheikh Abdullah Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Street), the bus heads north along the coastal corridor and stops in Umm Al Quwain before continuing to Ras Al Khaimah — which also makes this bus the easiest way to travel between Ajman and UAQ in both directions. Everything UAQ-bound is rounded up in our buses to Umm Al Quwain guide. In Ras Al Khaimah you arrive at Al Hamra Bus Station, the emirate’s intercity terminal for Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman services, with city buses and taxis outside.

Travelling onward or starting from Sharjah? Note that Sharjah’s Route 115 to Ras Al Khaimah also stops in Ajman — timings and the Sayer/E-SAQR payment split are explained in our Sharjah to Ras Al Khaimah bus guide.

Step by step: Ajman to Ras Al Khaimah by bus
- Go to Al Musalla Bus Station in Ajman — the emirate’s main intercity terminal (see our Dubai to Ajman bus guide if you’re connecting from Dubai on the E400/E411).
- Buy your ticket at the counter: AED 25, cash — and if you need the last bus, ask the counter to confirm it runs that day.
- Board the Ras Al Khaimah bus; it stops in Umm Al Quwain en route.
- Get down at Al Hamra Bus Station, Ras Al Khaimah after about 1 hour 20 minutes to 1½ hours.
- For the return, buses run 05:30–21:00 and cost AED 20.
Tips for the Ajman to Ras Al Khaimah bus
- Use the two-hour rhythm: with departures every two hours, arriving at Al Musalla just after a bus leaves costs you a long wait — time your arrival for about 15 minutes before the hour-and-a-half departures (07:30, 09:30, 11:30…).
- RAK in a day is realistic: the first return bus from Ras Al Khaimah leaves at 05:30 and the last at 21:00, so a full day trip — beach, Dhayah Fort, the National Museum — fits comfortably between the 07:30 out and an evening bus back.
- Break the journey in UAQ: because the bus stops in Umm Al Quwain anyway, you can hop off for the mangroves or the old town and continue on the next bus two hours later on a new ticket.
- Evening travellers, verify: the last Ajman departure is the one fact sources disagree on — check the Sayr app the day you travel.
