Two RTA buses connect Dubai with Ajman: the E400 from Union Square and the E411 from Etisalat Bus Station, both terminating at Ajman’s Al Musallah Bus Station. If you are checking the Ajman to Dubai bus timing for the morning commute or the last bus home, this guide has both directions: first and last buses, frequency, the current AED 15 fare, every major stop, and how to connect with the Dubai Metro at each end.

Which Dubai to Ajman Bus Should You Take?
The choice depends on where in Dubai you are starting. The E400 is the main service: it leaves from Union Square Bus Station in Deira, right beside Union Metro station (Red and Green Lines), and runs the full length of the day from before dawn to nearly midnight with the best frequency. The E411 starts at Etisalat Bus Station in Al Qusais, next to Etisalat by e& Metro station (Green Line terminus), which makes it the better option if you are coming from Al Qusais, Al Nahda, Muhaisnah or the Sharjah border side of Dubai. Both buses cross Sharjah on the way and end at the same Ajman terminal, Al Musallah.

E400 Bus: Union Square to Ajman Al Musallah
The E400 is one of the busiest intercity routes in the northern emirates, carrying thousands of Ajman residents who work in Dubai. Buses are air-conditioned RTA intercity coaches, and boarding at Union Square is from the E400 stand inside the bus station (follow the Ajman signs; the station is directly above Union Metro station).
E400 timings from Dubai (Union Square)
| Day | First bus | Last bus | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday–Friday | 4:25 AM | 11:30 PM | Every 20–30 min |
| Saturday–Sunday | 5:00 AM | 11:50 PM | Every 20–30 min |
Ajman to Dubai bus timing (E400 from Al Musallah)
From Ajman, the first E400 leaves Al Musallah Bus Station at around 4:30 AM and services run until about 11:00–11:30 PM, again every 20–30 minutes. Morning buses towards Dubai fill up fast between 6:30 and 8:30 AM — if you are commuting, the 4:30–6:00 AM departures are noticeably quieter and the run into Union can take as little as 45 minutes before the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road traffic builds.
E400 main stops
Between the terminals, the E400 serves stops including the Sharjah Safeer Mall / Crown Palace Hotel area on the Sharjah–Ajman corridor, then inside Ajman: Grand Mart, Al Manama Mall and Union National Bank before Al Musallah. The exact stop pattern can differ slightly by direction, so check the route in the S’hail app if you need an intermediate stop.
E411 Bus: Etisalat Bus Station to Ajman
The E411 is the quieter alternative. It departs from Etisalat Bus Station (beside the Green Line terminus station of the same name) and runs to Al Musallah in about 50 minutes. Services start at 6:00 AM and the last bus is at 9:00 PM, running roughly every 60 minutes — with only an hourly frequency, missing one hurts, so check the live timetable before you set out. The fare is AED 12, slightly cheaper than the E400. Sunday services start later in the morning than weekday ones, so weekend travellers should verify the first departure on the day.
Dubai to Ajman Bus Fare and Payment
The current one-way fare is AED 15 on the E400 — note that older guides still quote AED 12, which was the pre-increase fare — and AED 12 on the E411. Both are RTA services, so payment is by Nol card only; cash is not accepted on board. Tap in when you board and tap out when you leave, keep a comfortable balance (intercity trips are charged as a flat fare when you tap out), and remember that a Nol card with insufficient balance cannot start the trip. If you are continuing within Ajman on Ajman Transport’s local buses, those use Ajman’s own Masaar card — a different system — although cash fares are accepted on many local Ajman services.
Stations and How to Reach Them
- Union Square Bus Station (Dubai): in Deira above Union Metro station — Red and Green Lines. This is Dubai’s main intercity hub; our Dubai to Sharjah bus guide covers the other big route from this part of the city.
- Etisalat Bus Station (Dubai): next to Etisalat by e& Metro station, the Green Line terminus in Al Qusais; ideal from the airport side of Deira and Al Nahda.
- Al Musallah Bus Station (Ajman): Ajman’s central terminal. From here, Ajman Transport local buses and taxis cover Ajman city, the Corniche and the Free Zone; RAK-bound coaches also pass through Ajman — see the Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah bus guide if you are heading further north.
Step-by-Step: Taking the Bus from Dubai to Ajman
- Top up your Nol card at any Metro station, bus station or online via the Nol Pay app — aim for at least AED 15 plus your onward trips.
- Reach Union Square (E400) or Etisalat Bus Station (E411) and follow signs to the Ajman stand.
- Check the departure board or S’hail app for the next bus; at Union, E400 departures are every 20–30 minutes so there is rarely a long wait.
- Tap your Nol card on the reader as you board and take a seat; keep luggage in the racks or under the seat, not the aisle.
- Tap out when you get down at Al Musallah (or your stop in Ajman) — the fare is deducted on tap-out.
- For the return, buses leave Al Musallah from the Dubai stands; the last E400 back to Union leaves around 11:00–11:30 PM.
Timings in Detail: Weekday vs Weekend
The E400’s long operating day is built for commuters: first bus out of Union at 4:25 AM on weekdays catches shift workers, and the last bus back from Ajman runs late enough for a full evening out. Weekends start a little later (5:00 AM from Union) but run slightly later at night (last departure 11:50 PM from the Dubai side). The E411 keeps shorter, office-style hours — 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM — and its Sunday first bus is later, so it is not the route for a Sunday dawn start. On UAE public holidays, intercity routes generally follow the Friday/weekend pattern; the S’hail app shows the actual departures for the day.
Rules and Tips
- Peak-hour reality: between 7:00–9:30 AM towards Dubai and 5:00–8:00 PM towards Ajman, journey times can stretch past 75 minutes. Build buffer time if you have a connection.
- No eating or drinking on RTA buses (water excepted in practice, but the rule carries a fine) — finish snacks at the station.
- Priority seating at the front is for women, families and people of determination on intercity coaches; the front section is generally reserved for female passengers on RTA intercity services.
- Lost property: items left on RTA buses go to the RTA lost-and-found via the 800 9090 call centre.
- Alternatives: a Dubai–Ajman taxi costs roughly AED 80–120 depending on traffic — the bus at AED 15 is the budget winner by a wide margin.
Onward Connections from Al Musallah
Al Musallah is more than a terminus — it is where Ajman’s own transport network fans out. Ajman Transport runs local buses from the station area to the Corniche, Al Nuaimia, Al Jurf, the Free Zone and the industrial areas, paid with the Masaar card or cash fares that start from a few dirhams. If you are heading to Sharjah, buses between Ajman and Sharjah’s Al Jubail side leave from the Musallah area as well, and the ride is only about 25–35 minutes; for Umm Al Quwain, northbound coaches on the coastal corridor pass through Ajman. Travellers continuing to Abu Dhabi should ride the E400/E411 into Dubai and change to the E100 (Al Ghubaiba) or E101 (Ibn Battuta) — there is no comparably frequent direct Ajman–Abu Dhabi coach, despite what some timetable blogs suggest by simply mirroring the Dubai timings.
One practical note for new arrivals: Al Musallah sits on the edge of Ajman’s central districts, and a short taxi ride (usually AED 10–15 within the city) covers most hotels and the Corniche if your hotel is not on a local bus line. Taxis wait outside the station throughout the E400’s operating hours.
