There is a direct Abu Dhabi to Ajman bus, and it is the cheapest way to travel between the two emirates. The service, run by Ajman Transport (Ajman Public Transport Corporation), launched on 9 July 2024 and connects Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station with Al Musalla Bus Station in Ajman. It runs four times a day in each direction, the ajman to abu dhabi bus timing pattern is easy to plan around, and the fare is AED 30 with a Masaar Card or AED 35 in cash — a fraction of the AED 350–450 a taxi charges for the same trip.
This guide covers the full timetable in both directions, the fare and how to pay, what to expect at each station, and the step-by-step journey. If you are travelling from the Dubai side instead, see our Dubai to Ajman bus guide.

The road journey is around 170 km via the E11 and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road corridor. Off-peak, the bus takes close to 3 hours; leaving Abu Dhabi in the late afternoon or Ajman in the morning peak, Sharjah–Dubai corridor traffic can stretch it further, so do not book tight onward connections.
Abu Dhabi to Ajman Bus Ticket Price and How to Pay
The abu dhabi to ajman bus ticket price depends on how you pay:
- AED 30 — paying with a Masaar Card (Ajman’s smart transport card) or booking in the Masaar app
- AED 35 — paying cash at the station counter
Abu Dhabi Mobility publishes the Ajman fare as AED 35, which matches the cash price above; the discounted AED 30 rate is the Ajman Transport Masaar Card fare. If you commute regularly, the Masaar Card pays for itself quickly — it also works on Ajman’s local bus lines (AED 3 with the card versus AED 5 cash). A few older websites still quote figures as high as AED 70 for this route; that is outdated and does not match either transport authority’s current fare.
Note that your Abu Dhabi Hafilat card does not pay for this bus — the service is an Ajman Transport route, so payment is Masaar Card, the Masaar app, or cash at the counter.
The Stations: Abu Dhabi Central and Ajman Al Musalla
Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station (Al Wahda)
All Abu Dhabi departures leave from the Central Bus Station on Sultan Bin Zayed the First Street (Muroor Road), next to Al Wahda Mall. It is the capital’s main intercity hub, with an air-conditioned waiting hall, ticket counters, and city buses and taxis outside. Reaching it is easy from anywhere in the city; if you are coming from Zayed International Airport, ride the A1 or A2 airport bus to the city first — there is no direct Ajman bus from the airport.
Al Musalla Bus Station, Ajman
In Ajman the bus uses Al Musalla Bus Station on Sheikh Abdullah Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Street — the beating heart of Ajman’s bus network, open roughly 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily. From here, Ajman local buses and the Dubai and Sharjah intercity services fan out across the emirate. The station sits in the Al Musalla district, a short taxi ride from the Ajman Corniche and City Centre Ajman.

Step by Step: How to Take the Bus
- Choose your departure from the timetable above — with only four buses a day, plan around them, not the other way round.
- Get to the station 20–30 minutes early. Seats on intercity services are effectively first-come, and the counter can be busy before the morning Ajman departure.
- Buy your ticket at the Customer Happiness counter, or top up your Masaar Card / book in the Masaar app for the AED 30 fare.
- Check the departure board for your platform and board when called. Keep your ticket or card handy for inspection.
- Ride direct to the other city — about 3 hours. The bus is an air-conditioned intercity coach with luggage space.
- On arrival, connect onward by local bus or taxi: in Abu Dhabi the central station is on the city bus network; in Ajman, Al Musalla is Ajman’s main hub.
The Alternative: Bus via Sharjah or Dubai
If the four direct departures do not suit you, you can still make the trip by bus with one change. From Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi to Sharjah bus runs far more frequently through the day; from Sharjah’s Al Jubail station, the 112 and 114 buses cross into Ajman every 15–30 minutes for a few dirhams. Read our guides to the Abu Dhabi to Sharjah bus and the Sharjah to Ajman bus for those timings. The total journey usually takes longer than the direct bus, but departures are much more flexible. A third option is Abu Dhabi to Dubai by E100/E101 and then the E400 from Union Square to Ajman — see the Dubai to Abu Dhabi bus guide.

Rules and Travel Tips
- Carry the right card: Masaar for the discount fare; Hafilat and Nol cards are not accepted on this Ajman Transport service.
- Book the morning bus for airport connections: for Zayed International Airport, ride to Abu Dhabi Central and change to the A1/A2 airport bus. Allow at least 1.5 hours of buffer beyond the 3-hour bus ride.
- Luggage: one large bag in the hold plus a small cabin bag is the norm on intercity coaches; keep valuables with you.
- Food and drink: eating on board intercity coaches is discouraged; carry water for the 3-hour ride and use station facilities before departure.
- Friday and holidays: the service runs daily, but departure times can shift on public holidays — check the Masaar app on the day.
