Coaches and city buses at Al Musalla, the only station in this Ajman bus guide

Ajman Bus Guide: Routes, Timings & Fares

Ajman bus timings are simpler than any other emirate’s, because Ajman runs its whole bus network from a single station. Every Ajman Transport bus — city lines and intercity coaches alike — starts at Al Musalla Bus Station in the middle of the city, services run inside a single window from 5:45 AM to 12:00 AM, and one fare table covers the emirate: AED 3 for a city ride with a Masaar card, AED 30 to Abu Dhabi, AED 35 to Al Ain. Two visiting networks share the same terminal — Dubai’s RTA with its E400 and E411, and Sharjah’s SRTA with routes 114 and 112 — which makes Al Musalla the one station in the UAE where three operators and three different payment cards meet under one roof. This guide covers the timings, the city lines, every intercity bus, the Masaar card, and the connections onwards to Umm Al Quwain and the East Coast.

Al Musalla: Ajman’s Only Bus Station

Al Musalla Bus Station stands on Sheikh Abdullah Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Street in the Al Musalla district of central Ajman — RTA spells the name “Al Musallah”, which is the same place — a short taxi ride from City Centre Ajman and the Corniche. It is a full-service terminal with ticket counters, a Customer Happiness point, waiting areas, a prayer room and restrooms, and it is where you buy or top up a Masaar card before a trip. City Centre Ajman, the Free Zone side and the Corniche are all a few minutes away by taxi or city bus.

The station’s one complication is payment, and it is worth learning before your first trip: each operator at Al Musalla takes a different card. Ajman Transport buses take Masaar or cash. The RTA buses to Dubai take Nol only — no cash, no Masaar. The SRTA buses to Sharjah take Sayer or cash. Abu Dhabi’s Hafilat card works on nothing here. The intercity table below shows which operator runs each route, so you always know which card to carry.

Ajman Bus Timings at a Glance

Ajman Transport’s services run inside the 5:45 AM–12:00 AM window, but the shape of the day differs sharply by route. The Dubai and Sharjah buses are turn-up-and-go services; the long-distance coaches are a handful of fixed departures you plan your day around.

The two four-a-day coaches are the timings that matter most. Miss the 7:00 PM Abu Dhabi bus and there is no Ajman Transport departure until 7:00 AM the next morning; the fallback is a bus to Sharjah or Dubai and onwards from there. Build in a 20-minute early arrival for both the Abu Dhabi and Al Ain coaches — they are popular, they are the only direct buses on their corridors, and they do not wait.

Ajman City Bus Routes

Al Musalla is also the hub of Ajman’s city network. Ajman Transport’s city lines fan out from the terminal across the emirate — the Al Jurf, Industrial Area, Al Hamidiya, Sheikh Ammar Street and Mushairif lines among them, plus an Al Jurf Express and a Hamidiya feeder — covering the Corniche, Al Nuaimia, City Centre Ajman, the Free Zone side, Ajman University and the industrial areas. The fare is the cheapest city bus fare in the UAE: AED 3 with a Masaar card or AED 5 in cash, paid on board.

Route numbers and stopping patterns on the city lines change from time to time, so check your line in the Masaar app before you travel rather than relying on a printed list. For areas off the fixed lines, Ajman Transport also runs an on-demand minibus booked through the Ajman BOD app — AED 6 per trip within its zone, or AED 4 per seat when booking for several people. Because every city line starts at Al Musalla, the practical rule for getting around Ajman is simple: whichever direction you are heading, your journey starts at the terminal.

Intercity Buses from Ajman

Six destinations are reachable from Al Musalla, run by three different operators. Fares below are Ajman Transport’s official table (Masaar card / cash) unless the route belongs to RTA or SRTA, whose fares are listed separately.

Three of these deserve a closer look. The Abu Dhabi coach is Ajman’s long-distance flagship: a direct service to Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station that has run since 9 July 2024, about 3 hours via the E11 corridor, four times a day. The Al Ain coach is the newest link in the emirate, launched 1 May 2025 — before it, Ajman to Al Ain meant changing buses in Dubai or Sharjah. And for Dubai, most riders pick between the two RTA buses by their destination: the E400 for Union Square and the Metro’s Red and Green Lines, the E411 for Etisalat and the Al Qusais side — remembering that Ajman Transport’s own fare table also lists a Dubai line at AED 15 with Masaar (AED 19 cash), whose current departures are best checked in the Masaar app.

The Masaar Card: Ajman’s Bus Card

The Masaar card is Ajman Transport’s smart card, and it saves money on every Ajman Transport bus: AED 3 instead of AED 5 on city lines, AED 30 instead of AED 35 to Abu Dhabi, AED 5 instead of AED 9 to Sharjah. Buy and top up the card at Al Musalla station, through the Masaar app, the Ajman One app, self-service kiosks, or the Ajman Transport website at ta.gov.ae.

Know the card’s limits before you rely on it. Masaar works only on Ajman Transport buses It is not accepted on the RTA E400 or E411 to Dubai — those are Nol-only, and there is no Dubai Metro station in Ajman to top a Nol card up at, so arrive with the Nol card already loaded — and it is not accepted on SRTA’s Sharjah buses, which take Sayer or cash. If your Ajman day involves more than one operator, carry the matching cards plus a little cash, and use each operator’s own app for its departures: Masaar for Ajman Transport, S’hail for RTA, and SRTA on 600 525252 for the Sharjah buses. Ajman Transport’s own call centre is 600 599997.

Ajman to Fujairah: No Direct Bus

The one obvious gap in Ajman’s network is the East Coast: there is no direct bus from Ajman to Fujairah, and no timetable trick changes that. The working route is a two-bus journey: ride SRTA route 114 or 112 from Al Musalla to Al Jubail Bus Station in Sharjah (AED 6, every 15–30 minutes), then change to SRTA route 116, which runs from Al Jubail through Fujairah city to Kalba and Khor Fakkan for AED 30. Both legs are set out in our Sharjah to Fujairah bus guide. Allow a comfortable margin for the Al Jubail change — it is a big station, and the 116’s departures are about every 30 minutes.

Ajman to Umm Al Quwain

Umm Al Quwain, the next emirate north, is Ajman’s easiest intercity hop after Sharjah. Ajman Transport’s fare table prices it at AED 10 with a Masaar card or AED 15 in cash, and the Ras Al Khaimah coach also stops in UAQ on its way north — ask at the Al Musalla counter for the day’s departures. UAQ has no bus terminal and no local bus network of its own: buses use signed town-centre stops on King Faisal Street, which is why our Umm Al Quwain bus station guide explains the stops rather than a station building. From UAQ, the same coach continues to Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Hamra station — the full corridor is in our Ajman to Ras Al Khaimah bus guide.

Tips for Using Ajman Buses

  • Carry the right card for the right bus: Masaar or cash for Ajman Transport, Nol for the two Dubai RTA buses, Sayer or cash for SRTA. None of the three cards works on another operator’s bus — the most common mistake at Al Musalla.
  • Plan around the four-a-day coaches: Abu Dhabi (7:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM, 7:00 PM) and Al Ain (8:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 8:00 PM) run just four trips a day. Arrive 20 minutes early; miss one and you wait hours or reroute via Sharjah or Dubai.
  • Board the E400 at the terminal for a seat: Morning buses towards Dubai fill between about 6:30 and 8:30 AM. Starting at Al Musalla guarantees a seat; intermediate stops can be left with standing room only.
  • Carry cash for the Ras Al Khaimah coach: The fare is AED 25 in cash (AED 20 is listed with a Masaar card), and sources disagree on the last evening departure — carry cash and confirm the last bus at the counter.
  • Top up your Nol card before you come: There is no Metro station in Ajman. The E400 and E411 take no cash, so a flat Nol card means a missed bus.
  • Mind the midnight end: Ajman Transport’s window closes at 12:00 AM and most routes wind down before that. After midnight, a taxi is the only option — Ajman has no night buses.

What time do buses start and finish in Ajman?

Ajman Transport’s service window runs from 5:45 AM to 12:00 AM, and city lines follow it. The day actually starts earlier at Al Musalla: the first RTA E400 to Dubai leaves at around 4:30 AM. At the other end, most services wind down between 11:00 PM and midnight — and the four-a-day Abu Dhabi and Al Ain coaches finish far earlier, at 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

How much is the bus fare in Ajman?

City buses cost AED 3 with a Masaar card or AED 5 in cash — the cheapest city fare in the UAE. Ajman Transport’s intercity fares (Masaar/cash) are: Dubai 15/19, Sharjah 5/9, Sharjah Industrial 6/10, Umm Al Quwain 10/15, Abu Dhabi 30/35 and Ras Al Khaimah 20/25, with Al Ain at AED 35. The RTA buses to Dubai are priced separately: E400 AED 15 and E411 AED 12, Nol card only.

Is there a direct bus from Ajman to Abu Dhabi?

Yes. Ajman Transport’s direct coach from Al Musalla to Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station has run since 9 July 2024 — four times a day (7:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM from Ajman), about 3 hours, AED 30 with a Masaar card or AED 35 in cash. Full detail is in our Abu Dhabi to Ajman bus guide.

How do I get from Ajman to Dubai by bus?

Two RTA buses leave Al Musalla: the E400 to Union Square (AED 15, every 20–30 minutes, from around 4:30 AM) and the E411 to Etisalat Bus Station (AED 12, roughly hourly, shorter hours). Both are Nol card only and take about 45–60 minutes off-peak. Choose the E400 for the Metro interchange at Union, the E411 for Al Qusais and the airport side of Deira. Ajman Transport’s fare table also lists its own Dubai line (AED 15 Masaar / AED 19 cash) — check the Masaar app for its departures.

What is the Masaar card and where do I get one?

Masaar is Ajman Transport’s smart card. It cuts every Ajman Transport fare — AED 3 instead of AED 5 in the city, AED 30 instead of AED 35 to Abu Dhabi. Buy and top it up at Al Musalla Bus Station, in the Masaar app, the Ajman One app, at self-service kiosks or on ta.gov.ae. It works only on Ajman Transport buses: the Dubai RTA buses need Nol, and the Sharjah SRTA buses need Sayer or cash.

Is there a bus from Ajman to Fujairah?

No direct bus. Ride SRTA route 114 or 112 from Al Musalla to Al Jubail in Sharjah (AED 6), then change to SRTA route 116 for Fujairah, Kalba and Khor Fakkan (AED 30). The two legs and the Al Jubail change are covered in our Sharjah to Fujairah bus guide.

Is there a bus from Ajman to Al Ain?

Yes — a direct Ajman Transport coach has linked Al Musalla with Al Ain Bus Station since 1 May 2025, running four times a day (8:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM) at AED 35, paid by Masaar card or cash. It is the only direct Ajman–Al Ain bus; stops and return timings are in our Ajman to Al Ain bus guide.

Can I pay with a Nol card in Ajman?

Only on the RTA Dubai buses (E400 and E411). Ajman Transport buses take the Masaar card or cash, SRTA’s Sharjah buses take the Sayer card or cash, and Abu Dhabi’s Hafilat card is not accepted in Ajman at all. Three operators share Al Musalla station and each takes a different card — check your route’s operator in the intercity table above before you queue.
