Sonapur Bus Station is the name Dubai’s workers use for the buses of Sonapur — but the first thing to know is that no station with that name exists in any RTA listing. Sonapur is the universal nickname for the Muhaisnah labour-accommodation districts — Muhaisnah 2 and 4, on Dubai’s north-eastern edge by the Sharjah border. The name is Hindi-Urdu for “city of gold”, and everyone from taxi drivers to camp managers still uses it. When someone says “Sonapur bus station”, they mean one of three real places: Al Qusais Bus Station on Algeria Street, the Dubai Municipality Staff Housing terminus inside Muhaisnah 2, or the camp street stops that the Metro feeders thread between them.
This guide untangles the three: which buses terminate where, the camp street stops, the Green Line feeders, the shift-change timings, and the honest answer on Sharjah buses (there are none from here).

The Three Places “Sonapur Bus Station” Can Mean
Al Qusais Bus Station is the biggest: the RTA terminus on Algeria Street (D56) on the Muhaisnah 1 side of the corridor, home to the 13A, 13B, 13D, 32C, 33, 63E and 97, plus the N30 night bus. Our Al Qusais Bus Station guide covers its routes in full.
The Dubai Municipality Staff Housing terminus sits deeper inside the camp district in Muhaisnah 2. It is the end of the line for the 13 from Gold Souq and the 17 from Sabkha, and for many Muhaisnah 2 blocks it is closer than Al Qusais Bus Station. Do not confuse the two termini: the plain 13 and the 17 never use Al Qusais Bus Station, and the 13A/13B/13D never use the Staff Housing terminus.
And for most camp blocks, the honest answer is neither — it is a street stop. The camps are served by stops with names like Muhaisnah 2, 6th Street (by Sona Pur Medical), Grand City Mall, and the camp stops themselves — Bu Haleeba Contracting Camp, Galadari Labour Camp, Pioneer Labour Camp, Gargash Labour Camp, Al Ghandi Labour Camp — plus the Sonapur Bridge stop. Find your nearest stop in S’hail before assuming you need a terminus.
Bus Routes Serving Sonapur
The Camp Terminus: Routes 13 and 17
Two routes tie the heart of Sonapur directly to Deira. The 13 runs between Gold Souq Bus Station and the DM Staff Housing terminus in Muhaisnah 2, for the souqs, Baniyas Road and the abra stations. The 17 runs from Sabkha Bus Station to the same Staff Housing terminus, with a variant continuing into Muhaisnah 4 to Wasl Oasis 2. Both are how most camp residents reach old Dubai, and both are packed at shift changes.
The Metro Feeders: F07 and F02
Sonapur has no Metro station, so RTA built the link as a loop. The F07 is a circular feeder out of Etisalat Bus Station, beside e& Metro — the Green Line terminus. It runs through Muhaisnah 1’s intersections and Algeria Street, then loops the Muhaisnah 2 camps: Grand City Mall, Bu Haleeba Contracting Camp, Madina Supermarket, Galadari Labour Camp, Pioneer Labour Camp, Gargash Labour Camp, the Medical Centre, 6th Street and 7th Street, Al Ghandi Labour Camp and the DM Staff Housing, before heading back to the Metro — around 22 stops in all. The F02 covers the other side of the district, running from Etisalat to Muhaisnah 4 by way of stops such as Lootah Building and Oxford School.
Through the Camp Streets
More routes pass through the district without terminating in it. The 13B runs through Muhaisnah 4 (Lootah Building side) on its way between Gold Souq and Al Qusais Bus Station. The 18 links Al Nahda 1 with Muhaisnah 4, Wasl Oasis 2, serving the housing blocks on that side. The 32C and 33 call at Muhaisnah 4 street stops on their runs between Al Qusais Bus Station and Satwa and Karama, and the 63E threads Muhaisnah 1 on the long Al Qusais–Al Quoz industrial run.
| Route | From / To | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 13 | Gold Souq Bus Station ↔ DM Staff Housing, Muhaisnah 2 | Deira direct from the camp-side terminus |
| 17 | Sabkha Bus Station ↔ DM Staff Housing / Muhaisnah 4 | Deira via Baniyas side + Muhaisnah 4 housing |
| F07 | Etisalat (e&) Metro loop via Muhaisnah 1 and 2 | The Metro link — Algeria Street and the camp stops |
| F02 | Etisalat (e&) Metro ↔ Muhaisnah 4 | The Metro link for Muhaisnah 4 (Lootah Building side) |
| 13A / 13B / 13D | Al Qusais Bus Station ↔ Gold Souq Bus Station | Deira from the Algeria Street station (13B via Muhaisnah 4) |
| 18 | Al Nahda 1 ↔ Muhaisnah 4, Wasl Oasis 2 | Al Nahda + Muhaisnah 4 housing |
| 32C / 33 | Al Qusais Bus Station ↔ Satwa / Karama | Bur Dubai via Muhaisnah 4 street stops |
One correction, because Sonapur and Al Qusais guides keep getting it wrong: no intercity buses serve this area at all. The E306 and E307 services some websites list for Al Qusais do not call here. For Sharjah, the nearest intercity departure point is Stadium Bus Station (E308 to Al Jubail); the rest leave from the Deira and Bur Dubai terminals.
Sonapur Bus Timings
Sonapur wakes earlier than most of Dubai. On weekdays the first F07s pass the Muhaisnah 2 camp stops from around 4:10 AM, and the main routes — the 13, 17 and the 13 family — build up from around 5:00 AM. Services peak hard at the morning shift change and surge again in the late afternoon and evening. The last departures on the main routes run to around 11:30 PM–midnight. Two warnings: Sunday mornings start much later — the first Sunday F07 leaves the camp stops after 7:00 AM — and Friday and holiday patterns differ from the weekday grid. For live departures, check RTA‘s S’hail app on the day rather than relying on any printed list — including this one.
How to Reach Sonapur
By Metro: e& (Etisalat) Station, Then a Feeder Bus
The railhead for Sonapur is e& (long known as Etisalat), the Green Line’s northern terminus. From its bus station, the F07 loop covers Muhaisnah 1 and the Muhaisnah 2 camps and the F02 covers Muhaisnah 4. Do not plan to walk from any Metro station to a camp: the distances are kilometres, and in summer the heat settles the argument. Al Qusais Metro station serves the district’s residential side, but the camp corridor’s designed link is the Etisalat feeders.
By Bus
From Deira, the 13 and 17 finish inside the camps at the DM Staff Housing terminus, and the 13A, 13B and 13D finish at Al Qusais Bus Station. From Bur Dubai, ride the 33 or 32C to Al Qusais Bus Station, or the 63E from Al Quoz. A stop on the F07, F02, 13B or 18 may drop you closer to your door than either terminus.
By Taxi or Car
Taxis know “Sonapur” — add your Muhaisnah number and camp or street name to land at the right corner. By car, the district sits off Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311) and the Algeria Street corridor. Expect the camp roads to crawl at the morning and evening shift changes.
Camp Shuttles and Car Lifts
Plenty of Sonapur journeys never touch an RTA bus. Many employers run private staff buses between the camps and their sites and yards — arranged by the employer and not bookable by the public. Private monthly “car lift” services also pick up in Sonapur for industrial areas and Metro stations; they are booked directly with the operator, not through RTA, and standards vary, so ask workmates which service your camp uses before paying anyone.

Facilities and Tickets
Keep expectations practical: inside the camps there is no terminal building — stops are shelters and stands, and the DM Staff Housing terminus and Al Qusais Bus Station are open termini with numbered stands and shaded waiting. Supermarkets, Grand City Mall, money exchanges, cafeterias and the Sona Pur Medical centre in Muhaisnah 2 all sit on or near the same corridors.
Payment is by Nol card only on every RTA bus in the district, at the standard Dubai zone fares — AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two zones and AED 7.50 across three or more, deducted when you tap out. Feeder rides sit within a single zone, and changing between a feeder and the Metro within the transfer window is charged as one journey, not two. Do not count on topping up at a camp stop: top up at e& Metro station, online, or in the Nol Pay app — a flat card at 5:00 AM in Muhaisnah is a long walk problem.
Who Uses Sonapur’s Buses
The Muhaisnah camps house tens of thousands of construction, contracting, logistics and services staff, and the bus network is built around their working day — hence the pre-dawn first buses, the standing-room shift changes, and the day-off crowds heading for Deira’s souqs and remittance counters.

Travel Tips for Sonapur Bus Station
- Know which place you need: Al Qusais Bus Station (Algeria Street), the DM Staff Housing terminus (Muhaisnah 2) and your nearest camp street stop are three different points in the same district. Confirm yours in S’hail first.
- Learn your stop’s real name: No stop in RTA listings is called “Sonapur”. Stops carry camp and street names — Galadari Labour Camp, Pioneer Labour Camp, Muhaisnah 2, 6th Street. Screenshot your stop’s exact name in S’hail.
- Beat the shift-change crush: The corridors are at their busiest between roughly 6:00–8:00 AM and 5:00–8:00 PM. When a shift start matters, take one bus earlier than the timetable says you need.
- Top up before you come back: There is no Metro station in the camps to rescue a low balance. Top up at e&, online or in the Nol Pay app, and never let the card sit below one full fare.
- Do not wait for a Sharjah bus that never comes: No intercity buses leave from Sonapur or Al Qusais, whatever some websites say. For Sharjah, ride to Stadium Bus Station for the E308, or to the Deira and Bur Dubai terminals.
- Mind the Sunday start: Feeder buses begin much later on Sunday mornings — the first F07 leaves the camp stops after 7:00 AM. If you work Sundays, check S’hail the night before.

Is there really a Sonapur Bus Station in Dubai?
Not under that name. Sonapur is the nickname for the Muhaisnah labour-camp districts, and RTA has no station called Sonapur. The name points to three real places: Al Qusais Bus Station on Algeria Street, the DM Staff Housing terminus in Muhaisnah 2 (routes 13 and 17), and the camp street stops served by the F07 and F02 feeders.
Where is Sonapur in Dubai?
Sonapur is the popular name for the labour-accommodation area of Muhaisnah — mainly Muhaisnah 2 and 4 — in north-east Dubai, close to the Sharjah border and off Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311). “Sonapur” is simply what residents and taxi drivers call it.
Which buses go to Sonapur?
The 13 (from Gold Souq) and 17 (from Sabkha) terminate at the DM Staff Housing terminus in Muhaisnah 2. The F07 feeder loops from Etisalat (e&) Metro through the Muhaisnah 2 camps, and the F02 serves Muhaisnah 4. Al Qusais Bus Station adds the 13A, 13B, 13D, 32C, 33 and 63E, and the 18 serves Muhaisnah 4’s housing blocks.
How do I get from Sonapur to Deira?
Directly. The 13 runs from the DM Staff Housing terminus to Gold Souq Bus Station, and the 17 runs from the same terminus to Sabkha Bus Station. From Al Qusais Bus Station, the 13A, 13B and 13D run to Gold Souq. Allow extra time at shift-change peaks.
Is there a bus from Sonapur to Sharjah?
No. Despite the border being minutes away, no intercity bus leaves from Sonapur, Muhaisnah or Al Qusais — the E306 and E307 services some websites attach to this area do not call here. For Sharjah, ride a local bus to Stadium Bus Station and take the E308 to Al Jubail, or use the Deira and Bur Dubai terminals.
What is the nearest Metro station to Sonapur?
e& (Etisalat), the Green Line terminus — reached not on foot but by feeder bus: the F07 loop for Muhaisnah 1 and 2, the F02 for Muhaisnah 4. There is no Metro station in or near the camps themselves.
What time is the first and last bus from Sonapur?
It depends on the route. Feeder buses pass the camp stops from around 4:10 AM on weekdays, the Deira routes build up from around 5:00 AM, and the last departures run to around 11:30 PM–midnight. Sunday mornings start much later — the first Sunday F07 leaves after 7:00 AM. Check S’hail for your route and day.
Can I buy or top up a Nol card in Sonapur?
Do not count on it at the stops — the camp stops are simple shelters with no machines. Top up at e& (Etisalat) Metro station, online, or through the Nol Pay app. Every bus serving Sonapur is Nol only; cash is never accepted.
