Shabiya Bus Station Abu Dhabi: Routes & Timings

Shabiya Bus Station is the name Shabiya residents use for the bus interchange that serves the Shabiya districts of Mussafah, Abu Dhabi — and it is important to be straight about what it is: there is no separate “Shabiya” terminal building. The station is the same interchange covered in our Mussafah guide — the one Abu Dhabi Mobility lists as Mohammed Bin Zayed City Bus Station (Mussafah) and Dubai’s RTA signs as “Mussafah Shabiya Bus Station” for its E102 terminus. This page takes the district angle instead: the Shabiya sectors, the local stops inside their streets, and how a Shabiya resident gets to the city, the airport and Dubai.

Read this guide as the district-level companion: for the interchange’s facilities, Customer Happiness Office and complete route list, use our Mussafah Bus Station guide. Here the focus stays on Shabiya — sectors 9 to 12, their street stops, and the buses through them.

The Shabiya Districts: Sectors 9 to 12

Shabiya is the residential face of Mussafah. Where Mussafah Sanaiya is workshops, warehouses and showrooms, the Shabiya sectors are apartment blocks: four numbered districts — Shabiya 9, 10, 11 and 12 — on a numbered street grid between the industrial area and Mohammed Bin Zayed City. In official addressing the same blocks carry the MBZ City codes ME-9, ME-10, ME-11 and ME-12, so the same building appears under different names in contracts and planners. The word comes from the Arabic for “popular” — the blocks began as public housing — and today they are among Abu Dhabi’s most affordable family districts, home mostly to families and industrial-area employees.

Daily life runs on the streets between the blocks: supermarkets, cafeterias, clinics, pharmacies and mosques, plus a cluster of schools whose names — Model School, Al Muntaha, Bait Al Maqdes — double as bus stop names. Mazyad Mall, at the edge of Shabiya 12 next to the interchange, is the main mall, and Al Mussafah Park serves the Mussafah-side blocks. For most residents, the bus simply is the transport system.

Bus Stops Inside Shabiya

Most Shabiya journeys do not start at the interchange at all: the routes thread through the district’s streets, and the stops are named for the street grid and the schools they serve. Stops planners show inside the sectors include:

Bus Routes Through Shabiya

Four Abu Dhabi Mobility routes call at the Shabiya street stops, covering the city, Dalma Mall and ICAD, and Shahama. All four are paid by Hafilat card on the standard distance-based fare.

RouteGoes toUsed for
102Abu Dhabi city (Khalifa Street / Capital Park) and on to Yas IslandThe main city bus from Shabiya
101Abu Dhabi city (Khalifa Street) ↔ Dalma Mall, ICADCity one way, the industrial side and Dalma Mall the other
104MBZ City South East ↔ Khalifa Street, Abu Dhabi cityA second city link through the MBZ City and Shabiya streets
210Al Shahama Bus Station ↔ Dalma MallNorthbound to Shahama and Al Bahia via the station area

Route 102: Shabiya’s city trunk

The 102 is the route Shabiya runs on. It starts at the interchange, threads out through the district stops, crosses the Mussafah Bridge through Rabdan and lands in Al Danah — Sultan Bin Zayed Street and Khalifa Street by Capital Park — before continuing to Yas Island. The city ride takes roughly 55 minutes and costs roughly AED 3–4 on a Hafilat card. It is the district’s earliest bus — passing the Shabiya stops from around 5:00 AM — and runs frequently at peak times.

Routes 101 and 210: the Dalma Mall corridor

The 101 gives Shabiya its second city link and, in the other direction, its ride to the industrial side: from the city it runs through the Shabiya streets and on to Dalma Mall and the ICAD gates. Planners show the 101 among the district’s latest buses, passing around midnight. The 210 is the northbound option, linking Dalma Mall with Al Shahama via the station area — the way to Al Bahia and the Dubai-side suburbs without a city detour.

The 104 is the fourth district route, connecting MBZ City South East with Khalifa Street in the city through the Shabiya and MBZ City streets — a closer stop than the 102’s corridor for eastern-block residents, and a useful second string at the morning peak.

The Interchange: Shabiya’s Main Station

For the Dubai bus, the airport bus or a Hafilat card problem, the destination is the interchange itself. From Shabiya 12 it is a short walk; from the further blocks, ride any district route a few stops, or take a taxi. It has departure stands organised by route, sheltered waiting, and Abu Dhabi Mobility’s Customer Happiness Office (published hours 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM on weekdays) for Hafilat sales, recharge machines and enquiries. The A10 airport bus also starts here, running to Zayed International Airport Terminal A — Shabiya’s direct airport link. Its full route list and facilities are in our Mussafah Bus Station guide — it is the same station.

E102: Shabiya’s Dubai Bus

Shabiya is the only Abu Dhabi residential district with an intercity Dubai bus starting inside it. The E102 — an RTA service — leaves from the interchange (signed “Mussafah Shabiya” on the Dubai side), calls at the Mussafah community stops at Al Mussafah Park, Al Najah Private School and Al Ain University, then runs non-stop to Zayed International Airport, Terminal A and on to Ibn Battuta and Al Jafiliya in Dubai. It runs hourly from 6:20 AM to 11:20 PM in both directions at a flat AED 25; the full run takes about 2 hours. Remember: the E102 is paid by Nol card only — Hafilat will not work on it — and, being hourly, a missed bus costs a full hour. Abu Dhabi Mobility lists the service among its inter-emirates services. Full stops and timings are in our E102 bus guide, and the E100/E101 alternatives in our Dubai to Abu Dhabi bus guide.

Shabiya Bus Timings

Each route keeps its own timetable, but the pattern is steady: the first buses pass the Shabiya stops from around 5:00 AM (the 102 among the earliest), services peak with the morning school runs and shifts, and the last buses run to around midnight (the 101 among the latest). The E102 keeps its hourly pattern, 6:20 AM to 11:20 PM. Friday and holiday timetables differ — check Darbi on the day.

How to Reach Shabiya

From Abu Dhabi city: the 102 from the Khalifa Street / Sultan Bin Zayed Street stops in Al Danah runs straight into the districts — get down at your sector’s street stop, not the interchange. The 101 and 104 also come in from the city. Allow roughly an hour in busy traffic.

From Dubai: ride the E102 to its Mussafah Shabiya terminus. For Shabiya 12 the interchange is already your stop; for the other sectors, change to a district route (101, 102, 104 or 210) or take a short taxi ride.

By taxi: taxis are plentiful around the interchange and Mazyad Mall, and are the practical choice late at night. Give the driver the sector and street — “Shabiya 10, Street 20” works far better than a building name.

Hafilat vs Nol: Paying from Shabiya

Every Shabiya street bus (101, 102, 104, 210) and the A10 airport bus are Abu Dhabi Mobility services paid with a Hafilat card. Cash is not accepted on board, and your Dubai Nol card will not work on them. An anonymous Hafilat card costs AED 10, from the interchange’s Customer Happiness Office, recharge machines and partner shops. Fares are distance-based: AED 2 boarding plus 5 fils per kilometre, capped at AED 5 for journeys over 60 km — so Shabiya to the city on the 102 works out at roughly AED 3–4. Tap in when you board and tap out when you leave: forgetting to tap out charges the maximum fare. Transfers within 60 minutes of tapping out waive the second AED 2 boarding fee, and children aged 10 and below travel free.

The one exception is the E102 to Dubai: an RTA bus, so it takes Nol card only — Hafilat will not work on it — and the flat AED 25 is deducted at tap-in. If you travel both ways, carry both cards: Hafilat inside Abu Dhabi, Nol for the Dubai run.

Tips for Using Shabiya Bus Station

  • Use your street stop, not the station: for city trips the 101, 102 and 104 probably pass closer to your block than the interchange. Save the station for the E102, the A10 and card problems — and learn your stop’s full name, because street numbers repeat across the emirate.
  • Learn the stop names: Shabiya stops are named by street pairs and schools (St 20 / Bait Al Maqdes School, Street 51 / Street 30) — screenshot yours in Darbi the first week.
  • Board the E102 at the terminus: it starts empty at the interchange, and the community stops fill fast on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings — the short trip to the station buys a seat.
  • Carry both cards: Hafilat for Abu Dhabi buses, Nol for the E102. Neither works on the other system, and there is no cash fallback on the standard buses.
  • Tap out, every time: Abu Dhabi fares are calculated on tap-out. A forgotten tap-out means the maximum fare, deducted on your next trip.
  • Allow for the school-and-shift peak: the districts move all at once between roughly 6:00 and 8:00 AM. If timing matters — a flight, an E102 connection — take one bus earlier than you think you need.

Is Shabiya Bus Station the same as Mussafah Bus Station?

Yes — the same interchange. “Shabiya” is the name from the residential districts it serves, and the name RTA uses for the E102’s terminus (“Mussafah Shabiya Bus Station”). Abu Dhabi Mobility lists the same station as Mohammed Bin Zayed City Bus Station (Mussafah), stop code 10038. Our Mussafah Bus Station guide covers the interchange itself.

Where is Shabiya Bus Station located?

At the edge of the Shabiya districts in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi, near Mazyad Mall and the Shabiya 12 blocks, across the Mussafah Bridge from Abu Dhabi island. It is about 30 km from Abu Dhabi Central — roughly 55 minutes on the 102.

Which buses serve the Shabiya districts?

Four Abu Dhabi Mobility routes call at the street stops inside Shabiya 9–12: the 102 to Abu Dhabi city and Yas Island, the 101 between the city and Dalma Mall / ICAD, the 104 between MBZ City South East and the city, and the 210 between Al Shahama and Dalma Mall. The E102 and A10 run from the interchange.

How do I get from Shabiya to Abu Dhabi city centre?

Take the 102 from your sector’s street stop. It runs through Rabdan into Al Danah (Khalifa Street and Sultan Bin Zayed Street, by Capital Park) in roughly 55 minutes, costing roughly AED 3–4 on a Hafilat card. The 101 and 104 also reach the city.

Is there a bus from Shabiya to Dubai?

Yes — the E102, from the interchange (signed Mussafah Shabiya). It runs hourly from 6:20 AM to 11:20 PM via Zayed International Airport Terminal A to Ibn Battuta and Al Jafiliya, for a flat AED 25 by Nol card. Full route: our E102 bus guide.

Can I pay cash on buses from Shabiya?

No. Abu Dhabi Mobility buses — the Shabiya street routes and the A10 — take the Hafilat card only; cash is not accepted on board. The E102 to Dubai is the opposite: Nol card only. Buy a Hafilat card at the interchange’s Customer Happiness Office or partner shops before travelling.

What time is the first and last bus from Shabiya?

The first buses pass the Shabiya stops from around 5:00 AM — the 102 among the earliest — and the last run to around midnight, the 101 among the latest. The E102 runs hourly, 6:20 AM to 11:20 PM. Check your route and day in Darbi, as Friday and holiday timetables differ.

How do I get from Shabiya to Zayed International Airport?

Take the A10 from the interchange: it runs from MBZ City Bus Station to Zayed International Airport Terminal A, paid by Hafilat. The E102 also stops at Terminal A on its way north — check Darbi (A10) and S’hail (E102), and allow plenty of time before check-in.
